4 Top Places To Check For Mold In Your Warehouse

11/24/2020 (Permalink)

Mold thrives in the dark, damp corners of buildings, which makes your warehouse a prime location for mold growth, especially if it isn’t thoroughly cleaned on a regular basis. The smell of rotten eggs or dirty socks is a sign that mold is growing somewhere in your warehouse, and once you have reason to suspect it, don’t wait to investigate. Here are the 4 top places to check for mold in your warehouse.

  1. The bathroom.

You might have already guessed that the bathroom is a great place to investigate for mold, especially if you’re smelling it throughout your warehouse. The bathroom is a common spot for mold growth because of the water supply that runs to the sinks and the toilets and the constant dampness in the air as a result. Check under the sink, by the toilets, around the faucets, and even on the walls.

2. The basement or the cellar.

If your warehouse has a basement and/or a cellar, there’s a high probability that mold growth may be occurring in one of those places. Mold likes growing in the dark, and these more closed off spaces are often dark and more susceptible to moisture from the outdoors, so you should definitely check them out. Colonies may be living on your floor if it’s damp.

3. The ceiling.

In addition to the flooring and the walls and wallpaper, mold can live in the ceiling. If you haven’t caught on yet, mold can live and grow just about anywhere if it has the proper moisture and an undisturbed environment. Keep an eye out for any unusual colored spots or specks on the ceiling and make sure to have them investigated if you spy them.

4. Your HVAC units.

HVAC units often experience build-up, especially when the moisture that accumulates on them isn’t properly disposed of. Any other units in your warehouse that use water or mist are also great locations to inspect for mold and should be checked on a regular schedule.

In sum, it’s super critical to establish a regular routine of inspecting your warehouse for mold growth. Mold spores can be hazardous to your and your employees’ health, and you shouldn’t let it fester untreated.
